Man has long enjoyed a close relationship with firearms, and the use of modern firearms to pursue a hobby that is challenging, rewarding and even practical, has entered an era where it is increasingly being enjoyed by the family. Shooting, whether for sport disciplines such as practical handgun, target rifle, clay pigeon, and extreme long steel, or even hunting for the pot is becoming increasingly popular.

At Gecko Rock we offer use of an accredited range (NRCS and NHAS) and facilitate various shooting programmes. You may be an experienced shooter needing some input on your personal development, or simply a parent who’d like to introduce the family to shooting in a professional and controlled experience.

Some of our best comments have come from youngsters, with twelve-year old Sioux Meyer, describing her introduction to a 12 gauge shotgun and semi-automatic rifle as “The best day of my life.”

The programme at Gecko Rock is presented under the auspices of Zero Points Down Academy – an accredited firearm school operated by champion shooter Ian van der Bank, and Jonathan Deal. Firearms and ammunition are available for use under our direct supervision, and visitors can arrange to bring their own firearms.

Call ahead to book your personal, family or group experience. Gecko Rock is truly a shooting venue where the whole family can have fun.

In the words of Thomas Jefferson in 1785:

"A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks.”
